Remove image backgrounds, free.
Drop a photo and get a clean transparent PNG back in seconds. The cut-out runs entirely in your browser, so your image never leaves your device. There are no accounts, and there is no watermark on the result.
Remove a backgroundDownload
How it works.
Three steps, no setup, nothing uploaded.
Drop your photo
Drag it onto the page, paste it straight from your clipboard, or click to browse. JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, and iPhone HEIC files all work.
The AI cuts out the subject
A segmentation model running on your own device separates the subject from the background and keeps the soft edges: hair, fur, semi-transparent areas.
Download, or keep going
Save the transparent PNG as-is, or chain a follow-up: put a solid colour or a new image behind the subject, blur the original background, or fill the cut-out shape into a silhouette.
Questions.
Is it really free with no watermark?
Yes. Every tool is free, there are no accounts, and the exported PNG has no watermark. Donations are optional and nothing is gated behind them.
Do my photos get uploaded to a server?
No, and you can verify it: open your browser’s developer tools on the Network tab while you remove a background. After the one-time model download you will see no traffic at all. The AI runs in your browser via WebAssembly.
How does it handle hair and fuzzy edges?
The model predicts a soft alpha mask rather than a hard outline, and a small edge feather keeps the transition natural. Wild, very fine hair against a busy background is the hardest case. For most portraits it holds up well.
Can I replace the background instead of just removing it?
Yes. After the cut-out you can drop in a solid colour, blur the original background behind the subject, load a completely new background image, or turn the subject into a flat silhouette in any colour.
Why is the first run slower than the rest?
The first time, your browser downloads the AI model once and caches it. Every run after that skips the download and finishes in a few seconds on a recent laptop.
